Magical Brewing Pots

General / 25 August 2018

Been working on a brewing pot asset for Mixi. I've decided to push myself and go the "Blizzard" painterly route. Could use more work but I think it's pretty good  for a first attempt!

Here are some renders from my 3D pot that I used as a base. An open version is coming soon!

Mixi Early Character Concept

Making Of / 08 August 2018

Been a while since I've posted! It's been kind of hard to draw with stuff going on in life but I kept chipping away at this one. An early concept piece from our game, Mixi!
Tried out a different style and look for this one, what do you think?

Here's some work in progress steps:

MIXI - Character Exploration

Making Of / 11 May 2018

So I decided to try doing some character exploration from girl on the title screen. I figure it'd be a good exercise and challenge on trying new styles using the same character! She doesn't have a name yet ;; But I hope you enjoy.

I tried to make designs suitable for animation and game. I tried tackling that "Disney" style and it was quite the challenge. I have never tried drawing Disney style art before...

MIXI - The Pixel Art

Making Of / 11 May 2018

Hey guys,

I just wanted to share the pixel art from MIXI. Enjoy~

We didn't get to use all the assets in the game, but I think this is everything I made.

I'm not an animator but somewhere along my career, I picked up a bit of knowledge :)

TORONTO Game Jam: Flirteen With Danger - MIXI

Making Of / 11 May 2018

Hello friends!

Last weekend my friends, Mike Sebele and Katie Sebele, and I participated in TOJAM 13! We all had busy schedules that weekend but we did the best that we could and made our game MIXI 2 days!

You can try out our game here:

We had intended the game be played on mobile but you can also play in the web browser.

MIXI is an arcade-like fast paced game. The game takes place in a factory where you make LOVE POTIONS! We kind of had this idea of making a parody on how you can "manufacture love".

My friend is obsessed with it. I sent it to her as a little joke, and she's been playing it a lot LOL! Taunting me with her better scores. -Danny "ThePharside" Brooks

During the open house of the jam, we got some amazing feedback from friends and other developers! While it's definitely rough around the edges, we really enjoyed making this game and plan to develop it even further! I will continue to update this blog on MIXI updates and milestones! Stay tuned for more MIXI fun!!!
